  howdy, this is to try out our new "desperately seeking" forum -----some of us who have moved over the years......or are just not free to say outloud "i don't wanna be a jw!!!".

  soooooooooo, i grew up in indianapolis, in - stayed until i was 30, primarily irvington congregation on 21st street (eastside) - anybody around there?

  Hey back Waiting,

  If you like story tellers you must remember and have liked Bro. Silva, a CO sometime in the early to mid 70s. He was probably the best speaker/CO in my memory. Klein was good too, but you heard him much more frequently than I did since you were living in Indy.

  Silva and I got along well. He liked music (classical too) and together we attended a concert of the Cincinnati Symphony. He and his wife enjoyed it thoroughly.

  He was back in Indy some years later at the assembly hall (the one that was converted from a former church) and the line to greet him was extremely long. Where you there by chance?

  Hi Waiting,

  I’m trying to remember the one or two Congregations in Indy that I visited. In one the PO was a bald headed guy who pioneered and had at least one son. Seems that he had lots of assembly parts. Was that Irvington by any chance?

  My son hung with his son just a little; came home and told me horror stories about speeding, etc. on the highways.

  I was a visiting speaker a couple of times in Indy, but for the life of me I’m not sure about the names anymore (my visits would have been more than 25 years ago :-(

  You ask the impossible. You and all living JWs do not abstain from blood! It is surging through your arteries and veins as you read this. I doubt that you want to follow George Washington and have your blood removed from your body (phlebotomy).

  The phrase (standing alone as JWs use it) “abstain from blood” is absurd!

  as most everyone here knows, when it comes to the propriety (or lack thereof) of blood in medicine, one of the most familiar and timeworn expressions in the jw vernacular is abstain from blood.

  jws, both here (the most recent of which being mavman/yoyo) and elsewhere routinely invoke this phrase as an independent construction apparently with little understanding of what they are doing wrong .
